Salesian Cross Country Competition

SUNSHINE, STAMINA, SPEED…AND SERIOUS MUD AT SALESIAN CROSS COUNTRY!

On Tuesday 7th February the cross country team took part in the annual Salesian Cross Country competition. Despite the recent cold spell, weather conditions were quite favourable with a very gentle breeze and bright blue skies however conditions underfoot were very different. The races were always going to be challenging, but running on the world’s worst draining field with a half stone clump of mud attached to each foot added to the challenge!

Undeterred, we ploughed on determinedly and overall performed very well as a team. A special mention must be given here to our youngest team members who tiptoed & glided their way through the mud to pile up the points with some excellent running.

A special mention also to our individual race winners Rhys Day (Yr 3 boys) Emma Horsey (Yr 4 girls) & Mateo Hutton (Yr 4 boys) – inspirational stuff indeed.

As I write, we are still waiting for the overall results but below are our team highlights from the day (top 5 finishers counting to points total – lowest total wins):
