At Cardinal Newman School we aim to foster a desire for lifelong learning. We believe that the teaching of humanities enriches children’s lives and encourages a curiosity about people and events in the world now and in the past. We believe children should discuss and actively explore a variety of physical and human features in the past, present and future. We believe by doing this children will gain a true understanding of the world around them and how events have influenced our lives today.
We encourage pupils to have a curiosity about the different people and events in their world now and long ago and understand the independence of lands, cultures and of different generations within a global ecosystem.
We use a cross curricular approach. We strive to ensure the children develop an understanding of their place in the world, geographically and historically.
