14th February, 2020

Dear Parents

Thank you for all your tremendous support this half term for all our school activities:

Class Masses, Mission Weeks and Class Assemblies

Productions and performances

Sporting matches, local area walks and wider school trips

PA fundraising, Governor fundraising, Charity fundraising

We have certainly packed a lot into 6 weeks and it is noticeable that the children (and the staff!) are happy but also tired and well ready for a break!

As we go into the half-term break, just a reminder about Internet Safety Day which was celebrated nationally this week.  All of our children from Reception to Year 6 have had an age-appropriate assembly this week about how to stay safe online and it seems sensible to share the messages with parents too so that they can be reinforced and supported at home to keep our children safe:

Always tell an adult you trust if anything worries you online – they won’t be cross but will help you

Check the settings on your games and apps – are they all set to the tightest privacy settings?

Make sure an adult knows what you are playing / doing and that they have checked it is age-appropriate

Don’t click on an attachment or open an email from someone you don’t know

Don’t share your details with anyone online – including not using your real name

Never meet with anyone you only know online – they might not be who they say they are

This website for parents can help to keep us all up to date with the latest online dangers and how to tackle them at home. https://www.internetmatters.org/

It was great to catch up with so many of you at Parents Consultations this week.  We have been very impressed by the positive progress and excellent work ethic across the school this half term and we are looking forward to more of the same next half-term.  For now, the children have earned a great break.  We hope everyone will have chance to enjoy some family time over the next few days and we look forward to seeing everyone on 24th February!

All best wishes

Catherine Burnham
