19 July

Dear Parents

On behalf of the staff of Cardinal Newman Catholic Primary School, I would like to thank you for all your support throughout this very busy and fun-packed academic year.  We are blessed with a wonderful cohort of children who are well-behaved and keen to learn and to explore the world around them – thank you for entrusting us with supporting your families in the responsibility of your children’s education.  We have thoroughly enjoyed working with all of your children through the many different opportunities that have been presented to them this year.

This week we have said a special goodbye to Year 6 who will be starting secondary school in September.  It has been a joy to watch them this week as they performed their Year 6 Production together, as they led KS2 at their Leavers Mass and as they shared the joy of the slide show about their final residential trip at Cardinal Newman (the French trip, of course).  We know they are well prepared for the next stage of their journey and we wish them all the very best in their new schools!  Do come back and visit us in your new uniforms!

A prayer for the end of term:

Loving Father,
We come to the end of another school year
And we give you thanks for all the chances we have had to grow this year,
For the friendships formed,
For what we have learned about ourselves and the world we live in.

Bless our school
And all who learn, teach and support within it.
Bless those who are leaving this term
May they find happiness in the next stage of their journey.
Bless those who we will spend time with over the holiday – our friends and family
Help us always to appreciate what they mean to us.

Inspire us
To use the opportunities we will have to grow
To visit the wells that will nourish us
To encounter you in the beauty of nature and the depth of friendship.

We make this and all our prayers through Christ our Lord,
Our friend and saviour.

Amen.

All best wishes for a happy and inspiring summer.

Catherine Burnham

We break up at 1.30pm today and we start our autumn term on Thursday 5 September.

DIARY DATES 2019-2020
Dates for next academic year can be found here.

CLUBS LIST
The list of school-run clubs will be sent home when we return in September.
You can find information about clubs run by outside providers and application letters on our Clubs page.  This includes our new after school Code Camp.

MEDICATION
All medication in school is being taken home today.  If you want to bring it back for the autumn term please complete a  Medication Request Form plus an Asthma Form for inhalers.  Thank you.

SALESIAN SCHOOL CENTENARY
We sent an email this week from Salesian School inviting all past pupils and their families to their centenary celebrations.  You can keep up to date here.

PARKING
We had another instance of unsafe driving in Arch Road this week when a car reversed on the zigzag lines in front of the school and nearly knocked over two children coming to school.   We have also had an Arch Road resident complain about a parent who blocked her drive and was then abusive.  Can we please ask again that parents drive and park safely and considerately at all times and to treat our neighbours with respect.
September would be a good time to consider new routines for school drop offs and pick ups - walking, cycling and park + stride are all green options which support our relationships with neighbours.  Free parking permits for Hersham Station Car Park are available - please ask at the school office.
