Dear Parents/ Guardians,

As we reach the May half term in the gorgeous sunshine we reflect on the last few weeks and the children's excellent accomplishments. 

During the first half of the Summer Term we have had two residentials, a Roman assembly, Year 4 Bikeability, 2 class Masses, Blue Class Mission Week, 2 whole school Masses, Crowning of Mary liturgy, Celebration of children's work, Year 6 SATs and much, much more! What a busy half term.

Thank you all for your support with all of the above; it really wouldn't be possible to provide the children with such a variety of experiences without our strong partnership with our Cardinal Newman families.

Today was a very successful day for our school as Mrs Danielle Rivans (current Assistant Headteacher and SENDCo) was appointed as our new Deputy Headteacher. I'm sure you would like to join me in congratulating her. Mrs Rivans will begin her new role in September.

I wish you all a very happy and peaceful week ahead.

Family Prayer Session

Please join us for our Family Prayer Session, which takes place every Friday morning from 8:15-8:30am in the school chapel. The aim is for families to gather and pray, the session is led by parents and all are welcome - please bring your children.

Please support our Buy a Brick Campaign  

Buy a Brick – How You Can Help

To help fund the group room project, we are launching a Buy a Brick scheme. For a donation of £60 or more, your family name — or a short personal message — will be permanently engraved on a brick displayed in the school. This will be a lasting reminder of the role our families played in creating something special for current and future pupils.

Any contribution is gratefully received, and every donation brings us one step closer to completing the project. We have set a target of raising £10,000 from this.

Brooklands Card

Thank you very much to the kind family who have donated the Brooklands membership to the school for parents to use. It has been a great success, and we only have one weekend remaining to book – 10th July.

School Development Fund

Thank you to all the current regular donors to the School Development fund (formerly Governors Fund) that have updated their gift aid details and switched from bank transfer to CAF Donate following our letter earlier this term. Xavier Musician of the Year - Thursday 4th June at 6pm 

Please join us to celebrate Music across the Xavier Trust, at the annual Musician of the Year event, held here at Cardinal Newman in the school hall. It is a chance to join together and hear from talented musicians across the Xavier Primary Schools, as well as the Cardinal Newman choir. Tickets are £3 on the door and include a sparkling drink of choice!

Chertsey Museum Half Term Activities

Parking

Parking is available in the Coronation Rec car park which is just a short walk away from school. Alternatively, you can park for free at Hersham station car park on Walton Park with a permit which you can obtain by emailing the school office your car registration plate.

Please also note that parents dropping their children off for Breakfast Club or any morning clubs are not allowed to park in the school car park.

National Online Safety: Wake Up Wednesday Guides for Parents 

We would like to make you aware of our ‘online safety’ advice, guidance and support page called ‘Wake Up Wednesday - what parents / carers need to know’.

Wake Up Wednesday, created by The National College, aims to inform parents and carers on topics such as social media platforms, gaming, and iPad security. They include top tips, important reminders and reality checks on a wide range of online safety topics. They are a great resource to keep up to date with the issues children may encounter.
