21st October, 2022

Dear Parents/Guardians,

Please find below news, upcoming events etc.

Have a lovely half-term.

Governors Fund Donation

If each family could donate £10 per month to the Fund, we would be able to complete the development of the school playgrounds (Early Years and KS1) within 12 months and reach the cost of a new astroturf sports facility for Key Stage 2 within five years.

It's really easy to make a donation to the Governor's Fund. If you would like to donate online, please click here . Thank you for your support.

Notes/Reminders

Flu Vaccine

The letter from Children and Family Health Surrey regarding the nasal flu immunisation was emailed out on 12th Sept.  If you would like your child to have this, then you need to follow the link in the letter and give consent by 4pm on 26th October. Please contact the office if you need a copy of the letter.

Wrap up London Coats Collection

To get coats to those who need them.

In an ideal world we wouldn't need to collect coats to keep people warm. But the charities Wrap up London need our help more than ever.  Sadly, the number of people living in crisis in the city is rising, particularly those who are young and homeless. Wrap Up London shows the power that Londoners have when they come together as a community to help those most in need.

Every November, Wrap up London bring together hundreds of Londoners to collect, sort and distribute coats to charities and projects supporting service users. A coat doesn’t only provide warmth, it is often a gateway for someone to access services to help them get back on their feet.

When you are sorting out clothes for the Bag2School collection on 17th November, Year 4 would be grateful if you could:

  • put aside any unwanted/outgrown coats that are in good condition,
  • bring them to school on 17th November
  • place them in the “Wrap up London” bags at the school Reception

Mrs Simpkin will deliver them to a local Wrap Up London collection hub to be distributed to those in need.

eSafety and Safeguarding

Reminder: Keeping children safe online and in the real world

At Cardinal Newman School we are always reminding the children how they can keep themselves safe whether in the real world or in the virtual world. Class teachers regularly use the Zones of Regulation to assess how the children in their classes are feeling. Children are encouraged to share their worries using the ‘What I want my teacher to know boxes’ which are in each Key Stage 2 classrooms and the Worry Monsters which can be found in the Keys Stage 1 Classrooms.

Information to support parents can be found on the school website here.

Please continue to report any safeguarding concerns to Mr Flower (Designated Safeguarding Lead) or Mrs Burnham (Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead).
