18th March 2022

Dear Parents

A slightly quieter week in school this week as we prepare for our end of term assessments, but you can view some of our News and Events here:  Parents might enjoy looking at the Art work completed during the Illustrator project for Book Week - the children were very enthusiastic about their work and it is interesting to see the progression across the school.

Whizz Kids

Thank you to parents who have adapted so quickly back to our previous practice in terms of drop off and pick up at Whizz Kids.  It is much more robust in terms of keeping our children safe, now that the threat from Covid is dwindling.

Parents are reminded that Mrs O’Halloran will soon be allocating spaces for Breakfast and After-School Club for September 2022.  Applications will be open to our new Reception children from April, so if you are anticipating changes in your childcare arrangements in the new academic year, it is worth putting your child’s name on the waiting list for September.

Lenten Mass

There is whole school Mass for Lent on Monday morning at 9am - all parents are welcome to join us as we continue our preparations for Easter.

Missio Donation

If you would like to donate to Missio, please do so on Scopay.com.

Eucharistic Adoration

Parents and parishioners are warmly invited to join our school community for Eucharistic Adoration next Monday (28th March) in the hall.  All of our children will have the opportunity to spend some quiet time in prayer on that day and Y4-Y6 children will have the chance to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation in preparation for Easter.  At 3:30pm, there will be a prayer service and blessing (benediction) for all who would like to join us, led by Y5 and the choir.

Ukrainian Displaced Refugees - Thank you!

Donations poured into school for the Ukrainian Displaced Refugees appeal, with collection organised by ACS Cobham who are one of our partner schools.  Thank you to everyone who gave so generously - we were quite overwhelmed by the response and the school chapel was very poignantly filled with nappies and little children’s toys for a few days until collected.  ACS have sent through some information about the whole partnership collection as follows and there is a link to a small thank you video about the collection here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_lSDfLgj_v8

“We ended up having to get an artic lorry 24m long – to take all of the donations.  The company donated their lorry, drivers and fuel for free.  They dropped in a depot in London and transferred to a Ukrainian haulage firm, that will take the donations over the polish border and into Ukraine itself, where the aid is truly needed.  It made for a very busy few weeks – but between us - we ended up donating 1192 boxes in total: -

6 boxes of metal cups

269 boxes of nappies

31 boxes of medicine

16 boxes of plasters

102 boxes of shampoo

73 boxes of soap

59 boxes of toothbrushes

66 boxes of toothpaste

4 boxes of torches

103 boxes of wipes

9 boxes of batteries

26 boxes of body wash

22 boxes of children’s colouring books and crayons

84 boxes of children’s toys

106 boxes of sanitary products

36 boxes of first aid kits

8 boxes of combs and brushes

59 boxes of random other stuff.

What a wonderful community response to a terrible situation.  We had Ukrainian and Russian students, staff and parents working together, discussing the crisis as we packed.  An amazing sense of community spirit.”

Many thanks for all your support.  We wish you a happy weekend!

Altar Servers - All Saints

All Saints parish are looking for new children to join their altar server team.  Any child who has received their First Holy Communion is encouraged to serve at Mass.   We will be running new Altar Server training sessions soon - usually 5-6 sessions of 40 mins on a Saturday morning or Sunday afternoon.  All new servers will always serve with an experienced partner until they are confident in the role.  Once on the rota a server would be asked to serve once every 3-4 weeks and duties can be swapped at short notice to accommodate sports matches.  Being an Altar Server is a great way to continue your child’s active participation in the Mass after receiving their First Communion.  Please contact Sarah Rice on slcrice0@gmail.com by end of March if interested and she will then confirm training dates and times. Thank you.

Dinners

Please book your child's school dinners at least 1 week in advance on Scopay.com.
