Reception trip to Bocketts Farm

Earlier this week, Reception ventured out to visit Bocketts Farm which was linked to our Talk for Writing story 'Three Billy Goats Gruff.' The children got to meet lots of different farm animals, such as sheep, lambs, goats, kids, cows, pigs, rabbits, chickens, ponies and guinea pigs.  First we met our farmer, Amy, who spoke to us about the rules of looking after farm animals and how we should behave around them. Then she took us to meet the rabbits, guinea pigs and chickens, where children could touch and stroke these animals. Then she took us to meet JJ, the pony, and explained why JJ was a pony and not a horse. The children got the chance to feed the sheep, goats and cows before our tractor ride around the farm.

After a well-earned lunch, the children watched the pig race and cheered on their colours. Unfortunately, our colours didn't win, but all the children were cheering our pigs on and were happy when they passed the finish line.

What a fun and informative day for all children and staff!
