Yr 3 + 4 Boys' House Football

ST JOHN BOSCO HOLD ON TO CLAIM BOYS DOUBLE!

On Wednesday 29th September, the Year 3 and 4 Boys' House football took place. This time the weather was grey and drizzly but it did not dampen the enthusiasm of the players or spectators. The games were played in tremendous spirit and we enjoyed an incredibly close, competitive series of contests.

After winning the Year 5 and 6 Boys' competition, St John Bosco were looking for a double victory but they faced a stern challenge, particularly from St Stephen and St Lucy. All the matches were exciting and it was very difficult to predict a winner but eventually St John held on in a dramatic final game with St Lucy to just edge it. That game included a monumental goal mouth scramble in the final minute with St John defenders throwing their bodies desperately in front of the ball to protect the goal – marvellous! Over on the other pitch, they were enjoying a goal-fest as St Stephen and St Clare ended the day in an all-out extravaganza of attacking football with 6 goals hitting the back of the net in 10 minutes!

It was very heartening to see so many boys out there with beaming smiles and also to witness the high standard of skill and sportsmanship on display. All the boys should feel very proud of their efforts! Well done.
