Year 5+6 Girls House Football

After a morning of grey skies and constant drizzle, the sun eventually forced through the clouds and the scene was set for the girls to kick off the house events for this year. It was a wonderful turn-out with well over 40 girls enthusiastically representing their house. Supported by a large group of cheering parents, the action got under way and the excitement unfolded…

The games were very close, the players were very close (to each other!) and the boys who were refereeing were very close (to the ball). As always, there was no shortage of commitment, plenty of incident and lots of fun. The competition overall was also very close and as we went into the final two minutes of the final games, the eventual winners were still undecided. In the end, St Lucy held on to earn a hard fought goalless draw with St Clare as St John were being held 1-1 by St Stephen on the other pitch. St Lucy therefore finished as WINNERS.

Congratulations to all the girls who took part. It was a great tournament and it was wonderful to see so many smiles and hear so much laughter – an excellent start to our house sports activities for this year!
