World Book Day

We’ve been celebrating a whole week of reading across the school, with activities designed to spark excitement and help children discover new stories. Throughout the week, teachers swapped classes to share their favourite books, classes took part in a reading marathon, and children joined a range of live online events that brought stories to life. One of our most treasured traditions is giving pupils the chance to share books together in mixed‑age groups, creating a warm, community feel as older and younger children enjoy stories side by side.
Highlights of the week included Mr Flower visiting every classroom to share a story, a whole‑school fashion parade celebrating our favourite book characters, and of course our much‑loved World Book Day song! The choir also led us beautifully in When I Grow Up from Matilda, which we discovered in assembly was Mr Joice’s favourite book when he was a child. It’s been a joyful week that truly shows the power of reading to bring us together.
