Gaelic Football Festival

On Friday, Mrs Williams and Mrs Santos took two teams of YR5 and YR6 pupils from the Cardinal Newman Gaelic Football club to participate in the All Britain Competition (ABCs) at the Hazelwood Centre.

The ABCs is the largest Gaelic Games Tournament in Britain and Ireland, hosted for the second year by Gael Londain GAA Club. This year saw 3,861 players from 386 teams from clubs and schools across Britain play 967 games over the weekend.

The Cardinal Newman teams gave excellent performances, showing brilliant Gaelic football skills and playing to a really high level. We played 16 games in total and had loads of fun.

Particularly noteworthy was the positive feedback Cardinal Newman pupils received—not just for their athletic capabilities, but for their respectful conduct, attitude, and manners. Whether supporting fellow teammates and competitors, engaging with officials, or representing the school off the pitch, they made a truly lasting positive impression. We are so proud of them.

It was an excellent day which the children thoroughly enjoyed. Mrs Williams would like to thank the parent coaches who gave up their time to coach and support the children.
